Water New Zealand’s Stormwater Group and IPENZ’s River Group welcomes all members and non-members of both organisations to attend a joint Regional Meeting in Hamilton.
Two presentations will be followed by optional networking across several interest groups.
Stopbanks Renewal Prioritisation – A Risk based approach for planning asset renewals
Ghassan Basheer, Waikato Regional Council
Ghassan has more than 36 years’ experience covering a wide range of civil and environmental engineering design and construction fields especially river, flood protection and drainage engineering. Over the last 20 years Ghassan has been working with the Waikato Regional Council (WRC) and has filled a number of roles including the Assets Manager, Technical Services Programme Manager, Special Projects Manager and is currently the Principal Technical Advisor for the Integrated Catchment Management Directorate. He will present on the risk based prioritisation process that was developed by Waikato Regional Council to establish the Long Term Plan (LTP) Stopbank renewal works programme.
Hamilton City Council Stormwater Update
Andrea Phillips, Hamilton City Council
Andrea has worked at Hamilton City Council for the past 11 years in a variety of roles and is currently 3-waters Infrastructure Engineer specialising in stormwater. Andrea has led the updates to a number of Council initiated documents. Her presentation today will briefly discuss Council’s emerging approach to: on-lot stormwater management and water efficiency measures, sub-catchment requirements (update to HCC’s ITS), catchment management (development of ICMP modules) and citywide stormwater management (master planning).
